The man makes a lot of sense, yet the one thing noticeable about UK politics is the notable lack of anyone prepared in politics to actually say how it is to the ordinary people on the street.
Even the 2 party system we have is more or less designed to keep things the way they always have been, maintain the status quo. To get to the top is impossible for a maverick or personality as the compromises they have to make just leave us with recently a succession of interchangeable clones. Those who don't or can't play the game by the rules are destined to fail, just ask Gordon Brown, not that succeeding would have made him any more popular, but he might have lasted longer.
Yet when you hear what Freysinger has to say, it strikes a chord in many of the people who read it and you know that if we had a UK version he would be instantly shunned by the media and written off for not playing by the rules (as the left see it) yet like Pat Condell and others he would probably be very popular with the masses.
It's a shame the system we have turns out politicians rather than people who believe in doing what's right.

Fuel for thought

Imagine what you could do with an extra £500 a year, ok, it's not a lot in the great scheme of things, but it's an extra £40 a month or a tenner a week. A lot of people might not notice the difference, but to pensioners shivering in the depths of winter because they dare not put the heating on or people living at the edge of their budget month in month out it might just be enough to make keeping going a little easier.

EVERY family in the UK pays £500 a year too much in “ineffective and fiercely costly” green taxes, a new book claims today.
Let Them Eat Carbon says domestic green taxes – like fuel duty, the fossil-fuel levy and landfill tax – raise £39billion a year, £13billion more than can be justified.
Its author, , says: “The biggest threat to taxpayers is expensive new green taxes and subsidies.”
He cites Government figures which put the annual social cost of Britain’s greenhouse gas emissions at £16.9billion which, together with the £9.2billion spent on roads, leaves a green tax surplus of around £13billion – or £500 for every family.
He adds: “Excessive green taxes make everything from driving to work to taking a well-earned holiday more expensive and make it a lot harder for manufacturers to compete.”

 It's not just the £500 a year for families heating bills, it's the cost of food and transportation, it's part of the subsidy we pay for useless windfarms and solar panels. It all adds up and it costs everyone who pays a fuel bill and every taxpayer in the UK at least £500 and probably a lot more so deep does this scam go. It's not just the UK government either, it goes all the way up to the EU and beyond to the U.N. and its International Panel for Climate Control a hubristic misnomer of a title if ever there was one.
We are being robbed by those who know it's a scam yet pretend that somehow or other we wont notice and will carry on shelling out year in year out whilst they chant the mantra of carbon capture/climate change whilst jetting off to conferences in exotic locations often enough at our expense too.
Sooner or later though we'll call a halt to it or they'll quietly let it drop in favour of a new scam. But what they don't realise is just how close they have pushed people to the edge now. 10 years ago we all had a bit more cash to spare, now more and more are living on the edge and making personal cuts to their budgets. The riots were a symptom of this in part with the looting and the sheer anger of ordinary people at the powers that be. The Romans used bread and circuses to keep the mob happy, that's in part of what the Olympics are supposed to be a part of, but it's a year away and things aren't getting better, plus the bread (cheap food and drink) isn't available either. One of the reasons the Communist block carried on so long is that they kept the price of bread down, people could always get cheap food, when they finally ran out of money that's when it collapsed. Our politicians and other powers are playing with fire, when people feel they no longer have control over their finances they'll look to someone who will promise they can take care of it.
Might not be today or tomorrow, but unless there is a change in policy to put money back in working peoples pockets it will come.

Just who were rioting again?

I am livid at the moment, that utter cretin and turncoat David Cameron got up in Parliament and condemned a group of patriots who were not rioting, were not causing trouble and who did not attack the police.

13.25 Cameron wheels on the English Defence League following claims their supporters were among gangs of vigilantes who attacked police in Eltham last night, saying: "I described parts of our society as sick and there is none sicker than the EDL"

So who was responsible for 5 days of rioting in the major cities of England? Not the EDL!
Who was responsible for the deaths of two Muslims in Birmingham mown down by a car? Not the EDL!
Who was holidaying in Tuscany when this all kicked off? Not the EDL!
Who was responsible for cuts in the police budget and the destruction of police morale? Not the EDL!
Who was out distributing leaflets telling rioters how to cover their tracks? Not the EDL! 

People praised the Turks, Kurds, Muslims etc. when they came out to defend their homes and property, but when patriotic Englishmen did the same in Eltham they were condemned by police and politicians. No mention either has been made of the efforts of Patriotic EDL members holding the line between their districts in Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham and Manchester despite the fact that they were often outnumbered in the region of 10 to 1 preventing the riots spreading  and letting the police get on with their jobs knowing they didn't have to worry about what was going on elsewhere.

The EDL even put out a call for volunteers to help clean up the mess, the mess they didn't make!

Already EDL supporters have taken to the streets to help defend their communities and prepare for the clean-up operations that must follow the last few days of rioting of looting.
We already have members organising themselves in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Norwich and Birmingham, and are also looking to organise efforts in Bristol, Leeds, Wolverhampton, Salford, Nottingham, Leicester and Hull.

David Cameron's comments are a disgrace and an affront to all loyal patriotic Englishmen who only wish to defend their homes and families. He has totally sickened me and many others today and his party will never get our votes whilst he is a member or does not apologise.

Contraband

The government is currently tying itself up in knots over various policies in which it's trying to either raise revenue by increased taxation or social engineer us into taking better care of our health often enough by increased taxation and restrictions on where and when we can do certain things. The smoking ban and various on street drinking bans spring to mind along with the yearly above inflation duty increases that come with each budget. Of course one of the things that happens when prices go too high is that people will look for alternatives, even banning a product will not work, look at just how well prohibition worked in the USA to see a classic example of meddling with the market, consumer simply went to those who were prepared to supply them with what they wanted, in that case it was criminal gangs, which is where most drug users in the UK go as simply banning a product doesn't prevent people from getting what they want anyway.

Twelve million counterfeit cigarettes have been discovered during a search of a warehouse in Gateshead.
HM Revenue and Customs officers said it took three lorries to remove the haul and a full day to count the cigarettes.
The haul, worth £2.2m, was found during checks on industrial sites in the area on Wednesday.
HMRC spokesman Michael Connolly said the find was "staggering" and the largest ever seizure of its kind in the North East.
"This was a staggering amount of cigarettes to uncover in one place and shows the scale of this type of crime," he said.
"Each year the British economy loses over two billion pounds in duty from the sale of illicit tobacco, money that is ploughed straight back into funding other criminal activity in our neighbourhoods."

 A classic example, the government makes the price too high by piling on the duty and the criminal element see an opening and sell people cheap cigarettes and no doubt make a large profit as there wont be much in the way of quality control or other checks. You also have the HMRC complaining about the loss in revenue and yet who is to blame for this situation? Well the pointing finger goes straight back to those who made the product too expensive in the first place, Her Majesties Government and the anti-smoking lobby who encouraged the authoritarian anti liberty ban and the various duty hikes, although the government has always used drinkers, smokers and motorists as cash cows anyway and didn't need much encouraging.
This, all in all is a classic example of free market policies, make something too expensive and people will look for alternatives. If the government want to increase revenue then it needs to lower duty to the point where people will buy the legit product and the criminals will move onto something else.

£12 billion reasons not to vote Tory

Foreign aid often causes my hackles to rise, mostly because it's misplaced, used unwisely, lines the pockets of foreign dictators or is given to countries that clearly don't need it (India and Pakistan). Currently the aid budget stands at £12 billion and is as ever defended by our politicians including David cameron.

David Cameron will today admit that millions of pounds of foreign aid has been ‘wasted’, but insist this is not a reason to turn off the tap.
The Prime Minister, on a curtailed tour of Africa, will hit out at those in his own party who criticise his decision to pour billions more into foreign aid at a time of cutbacks at home.
In a speech in Lagos, Nigeria, he will declare: ‘The aid sceptics are wrong. Aid is essential. It can work and we are making it work.’

In this of course he is wrong, it's not essential at all, desirable in some cases perhaps, but not essential particularly when we have enough problems at home. As far as I can see, most politicians don't really understand the issues here as they seem to have no problems at all in signing away taxpayers money to all and sundry.

Charity or aid, whatever they want to call it, should begin at home or be used to cut our mountain of debt down. Yes I know it's not enough to make a huge bite into what we owe due to the previous and current governments ruinous spending programs but every little helps and giving it away to foreign governments is not helping.

Why our MP's choose to do this I simply do not know, it's like their common sense is amputated by the electoral process and they go on to be loyal little lobby fodder to the leadership rather than representing those who elected them.

I'm not in favour of banning things in general, but I'd make an exception for political parties they seem far too free with public money. Perhaps individuals voted in on their own policies is the way to go in the future with alliances made for issues rather by party political consensus.

Would certainly make the buggers work for the people once more.

Finally someone gets it

Immigration would not be a problem if we made it so that an immigrant here had to work or get no benefits whatsoever until they qualified for a safety net benefits system by paying a set amount into the taxation system over a period of time (or even a lump sum) No housing, health or unemployment benefits until you'd put something into the system, lower paid the job, longer it would take, say 10 years at least via the taxation of a minimum wage earner.
As no political party can do this because of EU regulations then the only way around it would be to strictly limit immigration only to the skills we need and this is what an advisor to Red Ed Millipede has suggested.

Immigration in to the UK should be frozen altogether, one of Ed Miliband’s most trusted advisers said today.
Lord Glasman, the leading policy adviser to the Labour leader, said the country should “draw the line” on immigration and even renegotiate EU rules that allow free movement for migrant workers.
He told The Daily Telegraph that Britain is “not an outpost of the UN” and the needs of the British people must be put first.
The comments are the most drastic yet for any of the major political parties and would effectively end immigration in to the UK.
However, the Labour party was last night quick to distance itself from the suggestions, insisting Lord Glasman’s views were “his own”.
Immigration has been thrust back on to the political agenda by both Labour and the Conservatives.

This is particularly ironic coming from an advisor to the leader of the Labour party who reigned over uncontrolled immigration whilst they were in power.
Lord Glasman really should have remembered the example of Frank Field who was told by Tony Blair to "think the unthinkable" He did and was forced to resign. So Glasman finds himself being distanced from the politicians who cannot apply what an ordinary person believes to be common sense as they simply don't mix with ordinary people but rather live in a weird bubble where the only people they really contact are other politicians and the political classes. The political classes love immigration and immigrants (if only because they don't tend to live amongst them). Immigrants tend to vote Labour anyway so they are beloved of the left wingers who tend to see the indigenous people as the problem because they don't tend to vote for the left seeing the left as well as the political classes for what they are, parasites on the system.
The longer however this goes on, the greater the gap between what the UK public actually want and what our politicians want to give us becomes and it's a potential breeding ground for extremism. The more acute the problem becomes, the more people will start to look for anyone offering a solution. The left and many of the political classes have decried the rise of the EDL, though they only have themselves to blame for that, yet the EDL isn't the problem, the EDL came about because of the problems created by the political classes and the defence of extremists amongst the immigrant community by the left.
Lord Glasman has a solution, it would work (apart from the EU not letting it work) yet our politicians are running away from it without even discussing it.

It was fun to see Jonah Brown making an appearance in Parliament to try and stick the boot into his old mate Murdoch and News International. Turns out all he said was a pack of lies and an attempt to rewrite history, so nothing new really showing that the inverse Midas touch he has will simply not go away.

GORDON Brown faced embarrassment yesterday when his claim that civil servants blocked plans for an inquiry into phone hacking were contradicted by official ­documents.
The former Prime Minister, in an extraordinary Commons tirade earlier this week, insisted that his demand for a major probe into allegations of newspaper wrongdoing during his time in Downing Street was wrecked by opposition from officials.
But records of the advice he received at the time – released on the orders of Civil Service chief Sir Gus O’Donnell yesterday – showed that he was told that the ­decision was ultimately his.
Shockwaves from Mr Brown’s outspoken intervention into the hacking row continued to reverberate around Westminster yesterday. Nick Clegg accused him of “rewriting history” with his attempt to distance himself from Rupert Murdoch’s News International empire.

Where it gets interesting for the politicians though is that Rupert Murdoch now intends to come to Parliament to attend a select committee meeting next Tuesday and he knows where the bodies are buried (metaphorically speaking... probably)
It's a bit like the old sticking your head into a lions mouth trick save I suspect that the politicians don't realise just who is the lion here. There are a lot of leftist politicians still smarting over News Internationals move to support the Tories in the last general election after 10 or so years of supporting Labour and who are anxious to stick the knife in. Save only that I suspect they are equalled by a similar number of MP's and the higher political classes who really, really don't want Murdoch to appear and tell the world just who has exactly been up to what. Influence does go both ways in this case after all.
The dilemma facing the political classes is if they push too hard, Murdoch probably has the means to retaliate good and hard, at least I hope he does.
It's probably too much to hope for, but I can dream of a massive falling out by all concerned leading to the downfall of the political class and a change of government to one run by honest people.
I can't think of a finer legacy for the curse of Jonah Brown.

Must?

Committing political suicide seems to run in the veins of the Lib Dems, or rather those of the Lib Dems who are pro EU and pro Euro.

Nick Clegg angered critics by insisting Britain’s fortunes were tied to the eurozone.
He said the UK could not stand by while countries like Greece ­teeter on the brink.

I know he's an ex EU something or other and has to say such crap in order to hold onto his pension, but really, how out of touch is the deputy leader of the coagulation?
The UK more by accident than design managed to stay outside the Euro currency and thus managed to keep a measure of control over our interest rates and economy, something which the individual countries in the Eurozone do not have, much to Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy's detriment.
This should have meant that we simply tut tutted as those economies slid into oblivion at least until they pulled out of the Euro and took control of their "new" old currencies and devalued them to the correct levels of their debt. Something they can't do with the Euro. What we shouldn't be doing as the boy Clegg is suggesting is bailing out the Euro, it's not our currency and although the EU do lord it over us to an extent (at the moment) it isn't our problem. If the Greek economy does go tits up because they can't pay their debts, then it's not our business to be throwing good money after bad and simply stave off the inevitable.
Out of touch and clearly out of his mind, Nick Clegg clearly has no idea what the UK public at large actually think about the EU or if he does, doesn't give a damn about representing that feeling in Parliament or abroad.
Sooner his party goes into oblivion the better.

Deluding the readers

Another day, another cry for "British jobs for British workers" as coined by the BNP (May 2006) and now grabbed by the mainstream parties to try and make themselves look a bit like EUsceptics. Particularly after the English train company Bombardier announced a 1400 jobs cut after losing out on a contract to Siemens.

A RALLYING cry to back British workers was issued last night after the UK’s last train-maker announced it was cutting over 1,400 jobs because it was losing a key contract to a German rival.
A further 12,000 jobs are likely to go at 100 local companies supplying the plant.
Derby-based Bombardier suffered the latest blow to British industry after the Government chose German company Siemens as the preferred bidder to supply 1,200 train carriages.
They are part of the £6billion Thameslink mainline rail project.
The Government claims that it had no choice under EU competition rules.
But today the Daily Express launches its latest crusade “Battle for Bombardier” and urges the Government to think again over the decision and prevent further sell-outs affecting our companies and workers.
UKIP MEP for the East Midlands, Derek Clark, asked: “Whatever happened to British jobs for British workers?
“Workers have been let down by successive governments which have not made better efforts to retain manufacturing in this country and simply caved in to EU pressure.
“While we are in the EU we cannot do anything about competition rules or stop manufacturers going elsewhere.”

Gerry Doherty, leader of the TSSA rail union, said: “Ministers must abandon their role as Pontius Pilate and stop standing idly by while train-making slowly bleeds to death in the UK.
“No German or French government would be so foolish as to award such a vital contract to an overseas manufacturer, threatening thousands of domestic jobs.”

Well, perhaps the French and German governments wouldn't, but that would only be because they arranged the contract to be written in such a way that only a French or German company could win the quote, they'd play within the rules, but find a way to make the rules work in their favour.
The UK government isn't of course smart enough to do this, besides we still have a tendency to play fair when it comes to the rules.
However the facts remain that whilst we remain part of the EU, this sort of thing will happen, any tenders for this sort of national infrastructure have to be opened for tender to all companies/interested parties in the EU. No amount of bleating by politicians, union leaders, newspapers or even blogs like this will change the fate for Bombardiers workers unless of course we leave the EU, even then it's unlikely, contracts will have been signed, penalty clauses inserted.
When we leave the EU and I truly believe it is a when, not an if, certain politicians and civil servants need to be held to account, these people were complicit in giving up our sovereignty, complicit in allowing further integration to the detriment of our nation and who have by taking our money in taxation conspired in treason against us the people.
Leaving might well be painful, might well cause all sorts of problems, but it is infinitely more desirable than staying. What happened to Bombardier is only one of a myriad of tales of job losses and interference on a massive scale by the EU in the UK, it will happen again and again until some politician grows a set and we leave.
Can't come soon enough, though sadly it's too late for Bombardier.
Should have been the first act of the new government, but we know what kind of man cast iron Dave is...

Ian Duncan Smith is going to get up in parliament today and tell us what we all know in that mass immigration has been an absolute disaster for the UK in condemning whole generations of UK youth to a benefits culture because they are simply not able to do the jobs on offer owing to poor education standards.

Too many young people are unable to read, write or communicate properly and do not work hard, a business leader claimed, as mass immigration is named by the Government as the biggest threat to challenging the benefits culture.

The Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, David Frost, said business leaders knew there was a problem with youth unemployment but they could not afford to ignore cheaper skilled foreign workers.
Mr Frost said employers needed the "best people" and identified what he said were the problems with too many of Britain's youth, in an interview with BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
He said businesses expected "young people to come forward to them who are able to read, write, communicate and have a strong work ethic and too often that's not the case".
He added: "There's a stream of highly able eastern European migrants who are able to take those jobs and that's why they're taking them on.
"They are skilled, they speak good English and, more importantly, they want to work."

Yes, they want to work and they come here to do the jobs that our poorly educated young people can't and wont do it seems and so long as they are allowed to come here, the situation will go on.
What is needed is a radical rethink of the way young people/kids are educated in schools where the emphasis is on basics, discipline and the inculating of a work ethic. Yet that alone is not enough if the changes don't happen within the home as well.
It's hard to blame companies who wont take on UK people who don't meet the job requirements especially when they can get people who do and are prepared to work hard from elsewhere. Turning off the immigration tap will help a bit, but it will be an expensive process too as people will need extra training to meet the standards required. yet that and education is exactly what is needed to solve the problem, though I suspect it will take years assuming we could even start now, which we can't, because of the EU.
It will take years to put this right, just stopping immigration wont do it, we need a well educated workforce and that's something we don't have, decades of meddling with the education by the imbeciles in parliament have seen to that with their social engineering and everyone must be a winner dogmas.
Step one, leave the EU.
Step two, remove the political ethos from education and just educate.
Step three, adjust benefits to where having a job is a major benefit rather than an obstacle.
It will put itself right eventually, but not till we do the above.

I blogged recently on the right of homeowners/tenants to defend themselves against those who would choose to break into their properties, seems the circumstances of the people arrested who weren't the actual thieves has hit a nerve somewhere in the government.

USING “whatever force necessary” to repel a burglar means that stabbing them or hitting them with a poker won’t be a criminal offence, Justice Minister Ken Clarke said yesterday.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Clarke said that under plans to clarify the law on self-defence “we will make it quite clear you can hit a burglar with a poker if he’s in your house and you have a perfect defence when you do so.

“If an old lady finds she’s got an 18-year-old burgling her house and she picks up a kitchen knife and sticks it in him, she has not committed a criminal offence, and we will make that clear.”

Mr Clarke has come under attack over what was seen as his soft stance on sentencing.

He accepted the defence of reasonable force already exists, but said: “Given that doubts are expressed, we are going to clarify that. What people are not entitled to do is go running down the road chasing them or shooting them in the back when they are running away or to get their friends together and go and beat them up.

“We all know what we mean when we say a person has an absolute right to defend themselves and their home with reasonable force.”

“Nobody should prosecute and nobody should ever convict anybody who takes these steps.”

 So what is reasonable force? Well the government and the laws view seems to be that you can only defend yourself if your assailant or other villain is facing you, the minute they run away it's no longer reasonable force. My idea of reasonable force is that anyone who breaks into my home or threatens me and mine should never be given an opportunity to do the like again and if that means chasing them down the road whilst shooting them in the back, then that strikes me as fairly reasonable. Suspect from the comments I got that my position isn't that unreasonable to most who read my stuff and if anything is a little mild. To me (and others) the minute you illegally enter a premises with the intention of breaking the law, then whatever rights you have, have gone out of the window and God help you if you run away, the only option you have should be surrender because running away means you might come back later so makes you fair game.

Too many of our politicians and lawmakers and enforcers don't really live in the real world where there is an ongoing problem with crime, they live in nice communities away from the reality of living with the fear of attack or robbery. Perhaps if they hadn't spent so much time disarming us (for our our own protection) and gave us more control over our lives and safety, we wouldn't be talking about this.

As it is, I really don't see anything in Ken Clarke's statement that gives me cause to rejoice, he's just stated the law as it stands and hasn't given any guarantees that people wont be arrested simply for defending themselves, until the law is changed to remove the "reasonable" force clause, then this I'm afraid is simply just soundbite policy on the hoof.

Give us the right to really defend ourselves, then perhaps I might just change my mind about what is and isn't reasonable.

Equality or ability?

One of the massive failings of socialism and socialists is their inherent blind spot where it comes to equality of everything, mostly because it always ends up being an equality of the lowest common denominator.
This means that in the case of choosing a talented person who is just right for a certain job, they hamstring themselves by putting in a person of the correct gender/religion/skin colour. Harriet Harman is a prime example of this congenital idiocy of the left.

Harriet Harman has resurrected her demands that one of Labour's two top posts should always be held by a woman.
The arch-feminist MP has proposed a change in the rules to stop her party reverting to its 'default position' of having men as leader and deputy.
Miss Harman believes women are 'still a long way from equal' in the Labour Party, and wants a vote on the issue by next year.
Her comments that Labour has a default position of choosing men for the top jobs is extraordinary given that she was fairly elected deputy leader of the party four years ago.
She secretly tried to change party rules in 2007 to ensure it could never again be led by an all-male team, but was foiled.
Miss Harman called last year for new rules to ensure half the shadow cabinet was made up of women.
But the suggestion provoked a furious outcry from male and female Labour MPs who branded it undemocratic.

yes, it's not only undemocratic, it's only equality of gender, not of ability, though I suspect that Harman merely sees it as a possible sinecure to keep her in a top job for as long as possible.
That's always the problem for those who seek to make life "fair" in that by making it fairer for some they usually make it unfair for others. Now personally I don't have a problem with Labour making themselves unelectable by this means, however there's always the chance that in (another) moment of madness the electorate will give them another chance. Certainly the Tories are not exactly thrilling the electorate at the moment, so it is a possibility. This would mean that there would be a possibility of the idiot Harman's schemes being inflicted on the rest of us like she did with the hideously unworkable Equalities Act.
People aren't equal, everyone has differing abilities all you can do with legislature is ensure a level starting point, after that it's up to raw talent and often enough luck. What you cannot do is start with the top placings and demand equality there, more often than not you'll displace people who have worked hard to get themselves there and cause a serious morale problem as people with lesser talents get promoted simply by being who they are not how good they are.
People like Harman see injustice where there is none and attempt to correct it by being unjust. Sums up the Equalists in Labour to a tee really.

An inconvenient lie

Normally you expect the MSM to slavishly follow the global warming, climate change, climate disruption mantra, though in the last year or so the wheels have been slowly falling off this ruinous theory that we can do something about the climate of the planet, or indeed that the so called experts who claimed rising seas and mass polar bear die offs were inevitable if we didn't all stop breathing out CO2 and live a nice medieval lifestyle, with no power, homespun sack-cloth and obeyed an elite environmental dictatorship as they flew around in their private jets telling us how to live. But enough of the BBC, this article popped up in the Express.

WITH ­energy firms poised to hike their prices by up to 22 per cent, consumers may well feel it is time to question the growing burden of so-called green taxes.

While energy experts will point to a rise in the price of oil, the Government’s commitment to renewable energy is the real reason behind the increases, as we ­already have 14 per cent added to our bills to fund projects which cut carbon emissions and global warming.

However a leading scientist who worked for Australia’s Department for Climate Change for many years, says experts got their predictions wrong and the whole idea that ­carbon dioxide is the main cause of any global warming is in fact a lie.

David Evans, who was a consultant for the then Australian Greenhouse ­Office until last year, said: “The whole idea that carbon dioxide is the main cause of any warming is based on a guess made in 1980 that was proved totally wrong by scientists as far back as the mid-Nineties.

The whole thing is now a train wreck. Although no one started out to scam or mislead, really the ­climate scientists are a bit corrupt now as they know they are exaggerating, but there are now too many jobs, ­industries, trading profits and ­political careers riding along on this nonsense to admit it is just that.

Now leaving aside my suspicion that energy companies owned by foreign companies are using this country as a cash cow to subsidise their own countries, much of the higher bills we face is due to an environmental levy (or tax) to fund or subsidise so called "green" initiatives which in a lot of cases weren't particularly green, efficient or cheap. When questioned about these "scams" the case was often put forward that the technology would improve, though in the case of bird choppers, it is difficult to see how they could make the wind blow all the time and for solar, the sun shine all day (and night). The other low carbon alternative and the one that actually works was of course denied any subsidies by Chris Huhne the (allegedly) motoring ban dodging Energy Secretary.

I can certainly confirm that we will not be providing public subsidy to nuclear and that we see nuclear as part of the energy mix for the future provided that safety concerns are met.

 So, we're being ripped off by the energy companies, ripped off by the government and lied to by environmentalists who are happy with the fact that we're being ripped off as it means it forestalls the imaginary ecospasm where the planet melts (or something) and there's nothing we can do about it unless or until there is a viable alternative to the LibLabCon power sharing scheme.
In the mean time the old will freeze and die in winter and the rest of us will wonder where all our spare cash has gone, yet many will still vote in the bastards that did this to us!

Theresa May was last night dramatically ambushed at a constituency meeting by the head of the far-right English Defence League.
The Home Secretary fears the group – whose marches she has banned in the past - will now seek to exploit the face-to-face confrontation for a propaganda coup.
The self-proclaimed head of the EDL, who normally gives his name as ‘Tommy Robinson’, managed to by-pass security checks by posing as the companion of one of Mrs May’s constituents.
He then began haranguing the Home Secretary about why the EDL – whose demonstrations have been marred by violence – was treated differently to other groups.
Mrs May says she walked away from the exchange in Maidenhead Town Hall – which comes ahead of a planned local march in the town by the EDL today.
Normally, the leader of a known extremist organisation would have no chance of getting near to the Home Secretary.

Ok, lets deal with the hyperbole, first the EDL as “far right”. The EDL is not a political party, nor is it a political organisation, it has no political ideology at all and campaigns only against Islamification and unfettered immigration. Whilst the cause of, and answer to, Islamification and unfettered immigration is political, so is the cause and answer to high fuel prices and food prices yet the motoring organisations and charities campaigning against those aren’t given left/right wing political labels. Calling the EDL "far right" is utterly misleading and a typical slur usually from lazy journalists or those with an agenda to smear an organisation with the "racist" brush, after all that's what "far right" means in newspeak...
Second, Tommy Robinson isn't the self proclaimed leader of the EDL, he's recognised by the organisation as its leader because he formed it and lead from the front, there was no proclamation, it's simply accepted he's the leader.
The EDL are not an extremist organisation, they don't blow up buses or planes, trains or disco's, they simply want the government to deal effectively with radical Islam and dealing effectively with does not mean inviting even more of them to come live here.
EDL demonstrations have been marred by violence, the vast majority of it aimed at the EDL, this is the equivalent of blaming the victim for the crime. A quick check of the arrests will show that when the EDL march, it's their opposition who get the most arrested.
Asking questions of the Home Secretary is not haranguing, it ought to be a democratic right!

One down several hundred to go

Another peer was jailed today for robbing us, though the official version reads falsely claiming £11,277 in parliamentary expenses. Still robbing us who pay tax though, not that the pigs who do this seem to feel any sort of shame over it.

Former Conservative peer Lord Taylor of Warwick has been jailed for 12 months for falsely claiming £11,277 in parliamentary expenses.

He claimed for travel between a home he used in Oxford and Westminster, as well for overnight stays in London.

The 58-year-old said he had made the false claims "in lieu of a salary", and had been acting on colleagues' advice.

Jailing him, judge Mr Justice Saunders said the expenses scandal had "left an indelible stain on Parliament".

Taylor, who was Britain's first black Conservative peer and a former barrister and radio and TV presenter, listed his main residence as a home in Oxford, which was owned by his nephew, while he actually lived in a flat in Ealing, west London.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges - saying had been told by senior peers it was normal practice to make false expenses claims - but was convicted in January.

Normal practice, that seems to just about sum it up doesn't it? It's normal practice for these people to steal from those who pay taxation. Well it's not normal practice to steal from your employer in just about any other career or vocation I know of, so I don't know what makes these guys think they're the exception. I really don't know what it as that changes politicians, perhaps it's just the overall corruption of the system or the power trip that they get from lording it over what they seem to see as lesser mortals. It's just the sheer arrogance of them that is slowly moving the public view of politicians so somewhere way below the usual scum of the Earth normally reserved for them and journalists.
Politicians have probably done their vocation irreparable damage over the last 50 years as they've taken advantage of their position to milk the system whilst handing over huge chunks of our sovereignty to the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels aided and abetted by a treasonous cabal in the higher echelons of the civil service.
I often say in jest that we should hang them all and start from scratch, but it's not funny any more.

Seems some Tories are upset that their glorious leader isn't being the man they thought he was. You know, the one who would get tough on the EU once he was in power.

DAVID Cameron was forced on to the defensive yesterday when MPs urged him to defy the latest onslaught of meddling and money- grabbing from Brussels and Strasbourg.

David Cameron hinted that the Government is poised to surrender to the European Court of Human Rights by allowing some prisoners in British jails to get the vote.

And he also refused to rule out a multi-billion pound contribution from UK taxpayers to a second European Union bailout of the debt-laden Greek economy.

Last night, Euro sceptic critics feared the Prime Minister was ready to “wriggle out” of a showdown with ­Eurocrats and European judges, lending weight to the Daily Express’s crusade to get Britain out of the EU.

The onslaught of questions about Britain’s relationship with Brussels and Strasbourg came during Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons yesterday. Senior Tory backbencher Philip Hollobone raised the issue of the court’s call for the scrapping of Britain’s ban on jail inmates voting.

He challenged the Government not to “bend its knee to the European court” and asked: “Will it [the Government] stand up and insist that on this issue Britain will not budge?”

 Almost touchingly naive isn't it? Cameron's hands are tied by the ECHR on prisoners and the provisions of the Lisbon treaty when it comes to bailing out the bankrupt southern Europeans. previous parliaments sadly sold out our sovereignty to foreign courts and parliaments and Cameron knows this, though I suspect he doesn't really care, save only if he looks likely to be ousted as Tory leader, after all he probably could have carried the last election with a promise to have an EU referendum of some kind. As for prisoner votes well Ken Clarke sadly gave the game away a couple of weeks ago with that one in that the UK will have to kowtow to the wishes of the ECHR after all we're a signatory to it.
Cameron is of the opinion that we can negotiate something for the UK in the EU, but the EU doesn't quite work that way, we want something, they usually want something in return, something that we're more often than not loathe to give up anyway.
The only way we can fix that is to leave, Cameron knows this (I assume) but his actions show us that he is committed to the EU and not worth voting for, at least at a national level.
That we haven't attempted to leave shows the Tory leadership in their true colours.

Doing yourself no favours

The Lib Dem dismay at the realities of power will continue today with their "glorious" leader boasting to the faithful of how he's blocked promises by the Tories in their manifesto to be implemented in this parliament. It's clearly an internal thing, because the promises he's blocked would probably be quite popular by the general public or matters of indifference to them.

Nick Clegg will boast today of all the Tory policies he has blocked as he pledges to make the Liberal Democrats more influential within the Coalition.
The Deputy Prime Minister will say that David Cameron has been forced to abandon pledges to cut inheritance tax, replace Trident in this Parliament, build more prisons and reform the Human Rights Act. He will claim that being in coalition has been tougher on the Conservatives with the Lib Dems “punching well above our weight”.

Now trident apart, none of the other blocked pledges would strike me as being particularly unpopular with the general public, even trident itself if looked at properly is pretty good value for money as a defence system of last resort. Cutting inheritance tax might look (to leftists) as a sop to the rich, but with rising house prices it was cutting into ordinary folks who were suddenly discovering that instead of inheriting their parents estate, the "State" via the taxman was now taking a goodly chunk of it. A tax on the supposed rich was now hitting the general public.
The Lib Dems apparently stopped the Tories building more prisons too, this is partially the reason why dangerous criminals are released early and judges are now reluctant to lock people up for violent crimes. The prison system is full and the Lib Dems stopped the government building more prisons, yep real vote winner there.
They also managed to prevent the government doing something about the horrendous Criminal Human Rights Act. The one that is used by the criminal fraternity to stay in the UK after committing murder despite being an illegal immigrant. The one used by Afghan hijackers to stay in the UK. That allowed the murderer of Philip Lawrence to stay in the UK. And Clegg thinks boasting about keeping the government from reforming that vile piece of legislation is going to make him popular?
Well it might keep the party faithful on board at thwarting the "Evil Tories" plans, but as a vote winner to make your party more popular after some awful election results and a nose dive in the polls it doesn't have a lot to recommend it now does it?

Vote early, vote often

No not in the sense of the Islamic/Labour postal vote scam that has gone on ever since the labour party made it ridiculously easy for 65 residents in a one room bedsit in Tower Hamlets to vote by proxy (possibly a slight exaggeration on my part).
No today is polling day for the UK either in local elections, the Scottish Parliament or for a new voting system if the previous 2 missed anyone.
I got another leaflet from Labour on Monday, saying they were sorry I was out (I wasn't) but that I should vote for them as the evil Tories had cut back the hourly bus service along Heron Way thus disadvantaging hordes of pensioners and young mums with buggies from not being able to get into town. Now apart from the fact that most can (and do) walk down to the main road where there's a bus every 10 minutes, there's no mention of how Labour were prepared to get the money to make the local bus company keep the route going full swing. If the route isn't making money then I can't see why the bus company should run it, it's not the only bus around after all. What Labour are saying is we'll keep the route open but we'll use your cash to do it with, might only be pennies on our council tax bill, but I know what Labour are like, they love funding stuff for all whilst grabbing the cost from those of us who actually pay out with our council tax, rather than get it paid for by the council, in otherwords they'll find other essential stuff to fund and keep raising the council tax to pay for it, after all there's nothing like enough diversity co-ordinators in the world are there?
It's not that I don't have sympathy for those on Heron way who can't get to the further bus stops, but there are other schemes to help them if they want it, but, as for Labour making an issue of it? Well those who want to believe that they can do it for free or at no extra cost can vote for them, but they'll soon learn different, unless of course they are dyed in the wool socialists who from the historical records clearly never do.
I'm also going to have a vote on changing the way we elect politicians to Westminster today, it's a bit of a tricky one, Cameron's against it, which means I'd normally vote for, Clegg's all for it it, which should mean a resounding no! Milliband is for it too, so it clearly looks like a socialist plot to de-stabilise the country and put a left leaning majority permanently into Parliament. Milliband also made himself look like an associated idiot by standing next to a guy who wore a dancing on Thatchers grave tee shirt, that's pretty much the sort of vindictive thinking the left indulge in these days, it was over 20 years ago after all that she crushed their little empires and I suppose the fear they all have is that someone like her will come along and finish the job off, good job for them Cameron got elected I suppose.
The only reason I'm even remotely thinking of voting yes is because UKIP are all for it too and I like UKIP generally. Not that I particularly favour AV, as voting systems go it's only just marginally better than FPTP, but probably more expensive to do, certainly more time consuming.
Anyway, it's up to you how you vote, not me, I wont be voting Labour or Lib Dem though and I might just might vote yes on AV, I'm kind of used to going against the crowd.

Condoning breaking the law

Some groups are more equal than others, this is one of the sad facts of life in this land in which we live. Some groups get away with a blind eye being turned because a full investigation would be "racist" at least until someone finally got the nerve to complain, well someone other than the BNP of course. And there are some groups who get away with vandalism and squatting because their beliefs fall in line with government policies, groups like the environumpties currently squatting in a school near Brighton.

The grounds of a disused school in East Sussex have been occupied by a group of climate activists.

About 40 protesters from Brighton Climate Action entered the grounds of the former St Anne's school in Lewes on Friday, declaring squatters' rights.

They have pledged to undertake a week of training and "direct action" against companies accused of environmental damage.

Sussex Police said the camp was peaceful and no arrests had been made.

Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrat MP for Lewes, said he was "sympathetic" to the protesters' action as "climate change is one of the most serious issues we face".

He said they were right to draw attention to it, but he was doubtful about the method chosen, saying that any protest must be "peaceful and within the law".

Mr Baker added that he did not condemn their use of the school building and grounds as it had been "empty for years".

I wonder whether Mr Baker would have been quite so forgiving if say they'd occupied his house, the Lib Dem party HQ or say the group had been someone like the EDL? I somehow think the response from him or indeed the police might have been somewhat different. After all the followers of the great green goddess have protected status in this land and they can seemingly get away with causing criminal damage in the name of their religion, well so long as they are doing it to someone other than the powers that be of course.
Squatting is illegal, these people don't even have the excuse that they are homeless and have nowhere else to go and I have a sneaking suspicion that any damage done to the site wont come out of their pockets either. Of course they might be perfectly well behaved (hah!) and leave in a weeks time after doing their thing.

The group also said an exploratory oil drilling site in an area of ancient woodland on the South Downs would be targeted for sabotage.

Or perhaps not, seems you can be a criminal in this land provided you're doing it for the right (green) reasons just don't try smoking indoors, driving marginally over the speed limit or drinking too much, apparently they're the wrong kind of law breaking.

Cameron does something I agree with shocker

Dave and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, I think he's doing a crap job of running the country, that he's an EUphile and that he can't be trusted to reduce the government size and spending. Plus he's just as authoritarian as the last lot to be in power. Still people were foolish enough to vote him marginally into power so we have to put up with his crap for the next few years until we get to choose again.
Today though he did something I agreed with and for pretty much the reasons I would do it too.

David Cameron blocks Gordon Brown as head of IMF

In a direct attack on the former Prime Minister, Mr Cameron said his predecessor was not the "most appropriate person" to lead the IMF because he would not admit the UK had a "debt problem".

Mr Brown is reportedly hoping to take on the £270,000-a-year role but he must first be nominated by the Government.

“If you have someone who didn’t think we had a debt problem (running the IMF) they may not be the best person to decide whether other countries have that problem," he said on BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

He added that the role needed to be filled by “someone who understands the dangers of excessive spending.”

Or to put it simply, you don't give a lunatic the keys to the asylum.

Brown's naivety and ignorance of economics stems from his socialist roots where the belief that you can spend other peoples money indefinitely seems to have deep roots. This coupled to a lax regulation of financial services lead to the banks loaning and taking up toxic debt from all over the world as they looked for high interest returns on investments without adequate checks to see if the loans could actually be paid back. Nor can quantitative easing (printing money) ever be a real solution to a debt crisis, look at Zimbabwe if you want a prime example of the end result of that type of solution.
So in this case yes Cameron has got it right, I'll allow him his day in the sunshine and probably return to normal service tomorrow.
