How Farmland Availability Affects Farmland Values Posted: 05 Aug 2011 01:24 PM PDT One factor influencing agricultural land values is the local or regional availability of good quality land. As with any investment asset, if a large supply of good quality land exists, then values are likely to be lower, and where there is a shortage of productive land, quality assets will be in higher demand and be priced accordingly. In most regions, the best quality and most productive land is cultivated first, and for two regions where board land quality characteristics are mostly similar, the availability of farmland accounts for variations in asset values. |
