It is an interesting paradox that many of us have the ability to discern a good team from a bad one, except when we are actually in one! How often have you sat watching your favourite football team lose another game, bemoaning the fact that they just didn't play as a team? Well, how do you they didn't play as a team? Because you KNOW what constitutes a good team! Why then, is it so difficult for us to translate that same knowledge to the workplace team? I believe it is because we do not attach the same importance to the "team" concept at work as we do to the team at play. After all, this is work, not just a game, right? Let me give you some pointers that may help you to see the importance of the "team" concept as one of your most valuable tools. There are seven important traits of a good team.
